Sakkarai Varatti – Traditional Sweet Banana Preserve
Sakkarai Varatti is a beloved South Indian delicacy, especially popular in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, known for its rich flavor and melt-in-the-mouth texture. Made from fully ripe nendran bananas, the fruit is gently mashed and slow-cooked with pure jaggery, ghee, and a touch of cardamom until it reaches a thick, glossy consistency.
The result is a naturally sweet, aromatic preserve with a deep caramelized banana flavor and a soft, chewy texture. Traditionally prepared during festivals like Diwali, Karthigai Deepam, and weddings, Sakkarai Varatti is often served as part of Seer Bakshanam (gifts for auspicious events) or as a wholesome sweet treat.
Our version is crafted in small batches using pure, natural ingredients—with no palm oil, artificial colors, or preservatives—ensuring both taste and purity in every bite.
